A new bilingual theater production depicting a Mexican-American woman’s experiences, living with her mother’s dementia and memory loss. In this courageous, deeply personal and unsentimental look at the role of the caregiver in this growing epidemic, Suarez brings her own life with her aging mother to the stage. She writes about – and portrays – her mother with humor and respect, love and frustration, sadness and celebration.

An adult social dance party & fundraiser benefiting Jump-Start Performance Co. and the San Antonio AIDS foundation. Special entertainment by local talent and featuring special guest Erica Andrews. Music provided by DJ Joe Alforo from The Saint! Come dressed in costume with your best skeleton face on.

FARID MERCURY

This wildly entertaining new work, Farid Mercury, is an exploration of Persian masculinity through the lens of Queen pop star Freddy Mercury. Karimi, currently based in San Francisco, is an interdisciplinary artist/activist/poet, and a multimedia humorist whose Iranian/Guatemalan hybrid heritage serves as a point of departure for his artistic/spiritual/political reflections.

We’re taking W-I-P outdoors in June. Meet us in the lobby and then travel around the Blue Star Complex to view three specially-commissioned performance pieces. We will return to the theater for a brief post-show discussion with all the artists.
