I played bass with Sterling in the Fleshtones in San Francisco in the 70's. When I moved to New Orleans in 2000, I was able to re-establish my long friendship with him and we visited each other several times, both here and in San Antonio. In 2002 while I was driving back to NOLA from California, I visited and attended a cross-cultural celebration at the theater.

Sterling was a dear friend and a real mentor to me and I was so glad I was able to reconnect and be with him again.

I am so happy and proud to see you have named the theater in his honor! Bravo.
