Wikipedia – The term coalition of the willing is a post-1990 political phrase used to describe military or military/humanitarian interventions…
The Willing is an evening length piece, choreographed by Amber Ortega-Perez, that expresses the thoughts, cares and emotions of military families that have been separated by the Iraq war. The Willing is not political but endeavors to show the strength required by military families to consistently send their loved ones over seas and live a life of uncertainties. The Willing was actively inspired by stories and poems that were submitted by military families who expressed a desire to take part in the making of this project.
Dancers featured: Andrew Coronado, Adrienne Westlake, Ashley Boyd, Amber Ortega-Perez, Erica Wilson-Perkins, Laura Murphy, Jenny Been and Rayven Markham.
These performances are made possible by a grant from the Artist Foundation of San Antonio. Visit www.spareworksdance.ning.com to read excerpts of emails and poems written by military families.
