RAQUEL BEECHNER – CONTEMPORARY ART MONTH

The exhibition and live performance will take place from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2008 at Jump-Start Theatre!

“Women’s Insights: The Dual Nature of the Female Soul” is an art project by Raquel Beechner dealing with the four seasons of a woman’s life focusing on the way women feel, and the way women instinctually live their life cycles in their own unique and creative way.

The live performance piece that accompanies this exhibition will consist of writings and drawings that bring out the story of the tamed and unbridled woman archetype behind the visual images she creates. The writings were based on many interviews of women of all ages throughout the nation. Their collective voice is narrated as the artist dances on sand while drawing the symbols present within her art.

I was watching the run through last night and was taken by the lovely movement in the sand to create the sand images. Watching from the front as audience and viewing the monitor’s image allowed for a nice visual depth. It was lovely to watch. I also loved your choice of music. The performance gave me a deeper perspective of your exhibit on the walls of the Gallery. Thanks for bringing your art to the stage…
