Actor, director, producer and show creator Adriana Garza brings her moving and inspiring monologue show, The Art of Being, to San Antonio audiences for a limited one-night performance on Saturday, Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. at San Antonio’s Jump-Start Theater (108 Blue Star, 78204). Proceeds from the show will benefit Jump Start’s Guest Artist Series dedicated to new and original works. Since its world premiere in Los Angeles in May 2006, The Art of Being has received national acclaim and helped earn Garza the distinction as the first Latina to be honored with Toyota’s Moving Forward Award.
Based on the diverse lives and stories of nine writer/actors and rooted in music, dance, art and self-expression, The Art of Being chronicles the journeys of self-definition and searches to find the humanity that links us all. This incredible ensemble shares stories of humor and heartbreak, and dares audiences to find the true beauty that lies within themselves. Along with Garza, the show also stars original cast members Jesse Jensen, Joy Nash, and Mary Queen Robinson, and current alternating cast members Tammy La, Jonathan Sanhueza, Effie Hortis, James Gilbert, and Barbara Cole, creating a diverse group of actors each expressing his individuality.
