From March 25th thru March 31st, an ensemble of a dozen displaced actors, poets, dancers and musicians from the Gulf Coast will be in San Antonio for a week-long residency hosted by Jump-Start. Under the guidance of John O’Neal, Artistic Director of New Orleans’ Junebug Productions, they will conduct multi-disciplinary workshops with local artists and community members, including Katrina survivors who have relocated to San Antonio.
Uprooted explores some Gulf Coast artists’ responses to the disaster and their efforts to reconstruct their lives and communities. Each of the artists represent a specific population and presents relevant images of the Gulf region both before and after the storm.
