Higher Planes is the sequel to the poetic and hilarious Fringe and Fringe Ability, which appeared at Jump-Start in 2004-2006. Telling the story of John Hobson, the flight attendant, philosopher, and erstwhile designer, the show examines closeness and distance in a mobile age. Set entirely to a musical score, Higher Planes is a collaboration between Paul Bonin-Rodriguez and concert pianist Rick Rowley, in which language becomes music, movement becomes dance, and story becomes the stuff that carries the spectator to distant places and back again. Directed by Steve Bailey.

Higher Planes has been co-commissioned by Jump-Start Performance Co., Diverseworks in Houston, and Artswatch in Louisville. Part of the Electric Performance Lab (EPL) series. There will be a Critical Response on Saturday, September 30th after the show.
